Specific Topics on
Applied Gifted Ed
Gifted IEP Meetings are about the gifted child and his or her immediate and near-future educational experiences.

Gifted IEP Meetings are not intended to be only presentations by the district of their existing Gifted Ed programs or services.  GIEP meetings must be child-centered and child-specific. The Gifted IEP Team's focus should be on two areas:

   1)  determining the child's present levels
   2)  using that present level data to create
a plan specfiic to the gifted child.

If you live in a district where the GIEPs are 'cookie-cutter', present levels consist of a report card and a PSSA score, and your approval of the proposed GIEP is simply expected - and you are not satisfied with that situation - review the information on this site.
